Laughter

You may find it strange that laughter has been included in a website dedicated to slimming, however laughter offers very important health and well-being benefits.

Studies have actually shown that laughter increases your heart rate and calorie expenditure by up to 20%. A study undertaken at the University of Loma Linda in California, found that laughing caused leptin levels to decreased and ghrelin to increase, thus mimicking the effect of moderate exercise.

When people are laughing their bad LDL cholesterol is reduced, immune activity is improved, and laughter helps to regulate blood pressure and increase levels of good HDL cholesterol.

At this point we must leave the matter up to you. Humour is very personal, age related, sex related and cultural. Mixing with people who have the same sense of humour helps and laughter is infectious, so something mildly humorous can become hilarious when a group of people find it funny.
