I Hate Chocolate

The use of hypnotherapy in weight management and slimming is well known, and for many people has provided the motivation and dietary control to help them achieve their targets.

There are a number of different ways in which hypnotherapy can be used as part of your weight management plan. But you must remember hypnotherapy is not a ‘magic wand’, it should form part of your plan and you should not expect the hypnotherapist to make you slim, you can only do this yourself.

Hypnotherapy Recordings verses One-to-one Sessions with Therapist

Whilst we promote hypnotherapy recordings we do this because they are effective for many people and are far cheaper than one-to-one sessions with a professional hypnotherapist. However, one-to-one sessions with a good hypnotherapist can be very effective and allow the hypnotherapist to get to know you and what will work best for you. Recordings are normally a ‘one size fits all’ solution, and will not include the pre hypnotherapy personalising of the actual hypnosis to your personal needs.

Good weight management hypnotherapy takes time and will often be undertaken by a holistic therapist who has hypnotherapy as one of their therapy tools, often alongside NLP, life coaching and other cognitive therapy tools.

Hypnotherapy Techniques

Motivation and Focus - This helps you keep focused on your goals and provides the extra motivation to overcome those issues and problems that undermine your resolve.

Aversion Therapy - We all need to eat to live, so unlike stopping smoking, hypnotherapy cannot be used to remove the desire for food. However, it is possible to use hypnotherapy to create an aversion and remove the desire for certain foods. This is a very effective means of targeting certain ‘unnecessary’ foods that an individual finds irresistible and ‘pigs out’ on, e.g. chocolate.

Self Image - Improving self-image and self ‘worthiness’ can remove psychological blocks that undermine self improvement and effective weight management.

Emotional Management - Where being overweight has an emotional root source, hypnotherapy can help you identify and resolve it to enable emotional understanding and ‘healing’. This normally can only be successfully achieved in one-to-one sessions.

Cravings Control - hypnotherapy can be used to link actions, e.g. pinch ear, scents and alternative tastes to appetite suppression and overcoming a food craving.
