We all experience stress but persistent and intense stress can cause physical and mental harm. Stress activates auto survival responses which can include an urge to eat high energy, high sugar, high carb foods.

Love?

Too much, too little, lost love, broken hearts, betrayal, abuse, all create complex emotional issues that can push us towards comfort eating, excess eating, cravings for certain foods, and can cause RAS (relationship avoidance syndrome).

Loss?

Losing someone or something we love can take us into emotional zones where food provides welcome comfort, however we can get stuck in this unhealthy zone and need help to escape.

Despair?

When depression hits us it can take us into mental states where food can be both a comfort and a welcome self punishment. Recognising your depression is the first stage and getting help is the second stage.
